about

“Dark Matter” was originally titled “God, You’ve Got A Lot To Answer For.” It was inspired by a family friend who joined the navy and shipped off at 18 in order to escape the violent abuse the he suffered at the hands of his father while the rest of his family sat back in compliance. After years of being away, he finally returned home after his father had passed away and found that his family had crumbled under the weight of their own guilt for allowing the abuse to go on for as long as it did. He told me that they all seemed like ghosts when he returned, like shells. So the piece of music was originally written as a gift to him.
